Cleo begins her new life in the Glade, the only girl amongst countless teenage boys, with no memory of who she is or her previous life. Her goal is to become a Runner, the most dangerous job in the Glade, though she has many other obstacles in her way, for instance the panic attacks that seem to be consuming her and the fact that she constantly feels outnumbered.
