Accanto a lei giace un quaderno strappato e zuppo di sangue, fra le sue pagine si nasconde una serie di indizi , frasi enigmatiche e un nome , Emily , che riconosce come proprio. Grazie ad esso, la ragazza inizia la sua ricerca . L'obbiettivo : I suoi ricordi e la "missione" che il quaderno le suggeriva . " Cercare colui che " Sorride sempre e non dorme mai." Ben presto Emily si convince che qualcuno cerchi d'aiutarla , ma la realtà e molto più complessa e oscura . E mentre l'uomo a cui da la caccia inizia a fare le sue prime mosse, l'identità del misterioso aiutante e dell'autore del quaderno si fanno sempre più incerte... La verità si andrà presto a confondere col falso, mentre Emily si troverà a dubitare di tutte le sue certezze...
