Imperial law enforcer Amaranthe Lokdon is good at her job: she can deter thieves and pacify thugs, if not with a blade, then by toppling an eight-foot pile of coffee canisters onto their heads. But when ravaged bodies show up on the waterfront, an arson covers up human sacrifices, and a powerful business coalition plots to kill the emperor, she feels a tad overwhelmed. Worse, Sicarius, the empire's most notorious assassin, is in town. He's tied in with the chaos somehow, but Amaranthe would be a fool to cross his path. Unfortunately, her superiors order her to hunt him down. Either they have an unprecedented belief in her skills... or someone wants her dead.

When you’ve been accused of kidnapping an emperor, and every enforcer in the city wants your head, it’s hard to prove yourself an honorable person and even harder to earn an imperial pardon. That doesn’t keep Amaranthe Lokdon and her team of outlaws from trying. When athletes start disappearing from the Imperial Games, they may finally have an opportunity to show the emperor that they’re on his side. If she and her comrades can get to the bottom of such a public mystery, they’re sure to get the credit. But plans go awry when Amaranthe’s own men start plotting against each other, the new ally she’d hoped to acquire tries to turn her in, and her best fighter—and closest friend—disappears. Maybe getting involved wasn’t such a good idea after all… Deadly Games is the third book in The Emperor's Edge series. Dragons like princesses. Everyone knows that. But the kingdom of Teana is pretty lacking in maids of the royal variety - which must be why Alannah finds herself tied to a pole, surrounded by sheep, and in the most ridiculous white dress she's ever seen. Only she's not a princess; she's a witch. And she's not interested in being another notch on this dragon's belt. All she wants is get back to her Grandmother's shop, and back to her normal life. But she's days from home, and her only assistance is a blundering knight-in-training, a recently captured slave - and the dragon, who follows them around like a curious puppy. A large, dangerous puppy that can look human whenever it chooses - yeah, she's definitely in trouble. BETA/DRAFT: All rights reserved. Visit www.lemedlock.com for information on upcoming stories.

This is one book club meeting that doesn't go by the book. When octogenarian sleuth Myrtle Clover discovers Naomi Pelter's dead body during a book club meeting, the other members seem shocked. But Myrtle can read between the lines. Naomi had riled everyone up by flirting with other people's husbands, arguing with neighbors, and generally making a nuisance of herself. Murdering troublemakers is the oldest trick in the book. The book club members seem too sweet to be killers, but Myrtle knows better than to judge books by their covers. Myrtle's investigation into the murder will take a more novel approach than her police chief son's by-the-book methods. Can Myrtle and her widower sidekick uncover the killer...before he writes them off for good? (This mystery will be uploaded on Wednesdays. If you can't wait for the next installment, the completed book can be found on Amazon: https://tinyurl.com/o6wn4sk ) . The series is also available on Amazon India: https://tinyurl.com/ohdbffq . A short travel story on Collioure, in Southern France. Most of the coast down here is unfortunately either bland - or downright ugly. This village is neither, its picturesque little alleyways together with the beautiful bays of the 'Cote Vermillion' still look a lot like they did a century ago, when Henri Matisse and his fellow painters took shelter in the foothills of the Pyrenees. Just keep writing - there's only a few people watching you ... Listen to them. It might be for your benefit. This is my very personal attempt at trying to get some baselines of fiction writing across. It's fiction in itself. Or so I think. I will also try to explain what humour is. With a 'u'. Maybe that makes all the difference.
