Vera is a young archaeologist with a determination to prove herself in the field. While on a dig with her father, they happen to stumble across an ancient ruin that releases a jinni through a doorway between the worlds. Out of naivety and sympathy, Vera befriends the ancient creature only to realize the dark, nightmarish truth behind classic fairy tales of the Genie. The jinni's fascination with her quickly turns into dangerous obsession. Soon mangled bodies begin turning up all over desert and Vera has no clue how to stop it.
