What if you could hear them? The thoughts they deigned not reasonable enough to say out loud, the things not suitable for even a giggly teenage gossip conversation. Would it be a blessing or a curse? Troye, the unlucky teenager bestowed with this 'gift', thinks of it as a curse, with good reason. Do you know how hard it is to keep a relationship with someone when you know exactly what they think of you? Impossible. It's impossible. Or at least that's what Troye thinks, considering he's given up on even trying to make it work. He's different, people shun different. People hate different. And it's better to go under the radar, to be nothing, than to be hated. Right? Tyler, on the other hand, has taken a different approach to a similar problem. No, he can't 'read minds', but he does have a part of himself he doesn't want a soul to know about. He's quarterback, every girl's dream guy, an academic mastermind, and he's also gay. He's seen how different kids get treated, hell, he's been the one to treat them that way before. Why on Earth would he ever wish that on himself? No, it's easier to hide, to be someone you're not, than to be hated. Right?

Troye Sivan was upset that his best friend seemed to be ignoring him, but he was not jealous. He was not jealous of how Korey, Siri, and Marcus all got more attention from Tyler than he did. You see, friends don't get jealous. So Troye just wants some attention from his best friend, yeah that must be it. Not jealous, friends don't get jealous.

Having a best friend is probably one of the most amazing things in the world. They're always here for you when you need a laugh or a shoulder to cry on. They stick with you through the downs and always bring you up. When you break a leg, when you're sick, when your heart is broken there is nobody to call other than your best friend. This is simply the story of two best friends being best friends but what happens when they stop being just best friends? This is not just an era, a page in a book, a day in your life. This is more than that. To Tyler Oakley and Troye Sivan this is everything.

Troye and Tyler haven't had a chance to meet each other in what seems like ages. One day Troye gets sick of it, and comes up with a clever plan to surprise his best friend. But how will things work out, when Tyler starts to question his feelings towards the younger man? Is one drunk night enough to make Tyler spill all his secrets?

It's just too easy to expect that self-proclaimed homophobes (like Troye Sivan) and a homosexuals themselves (like Tyler Oakley) could never get along. Not even mindless vengeful plans or diabolic fake babies or constant mockery or accidental not-dates or attempts to make each other's lives a living hell could force a decent acquaintanceship upon them, much less was there a chance that they'd develop weird yet genuine relationships and feelings that definitely crosses the border of friendship. It would definitely take a million wishes and miracles just for them to like each other. ..right? Entirety of story is fictional; characters are real life people.
