All wars are horrid; young men facing constant danger with possible death or injury ... confronting their fears in the world of kill or be killed ... But Vietnam was one of those wars that tore a nation apart; the first war we saw played in front of us on the nightly news. We saw the bodies, both theirs and ours, and watched as the news camera crews relayed the horrors during the dinner hour. In the middle of all of this, Sheila waits at home and worries for her fiancé Alan. Drafted into the army when he had to drop out of college due to an illness, he is in the midst of things, doing his part as a medic. When Alan gets R&R and asks Sheila to meet him in Hawaii, she is elated and hopeful, yet a little bit frightened. She hasn't seen him in almost a year and his letters were not as they used to be. Will this be the reunion she hopes it will be?

The Magnetron Chronicles, Volume 1 Phineas Magnetron is an eccentric Nineteenth Century inventor blessed with a strange gift he doesn't completely understand. As a former soldier and current member of the Hogalum Society, an inscrutable secret organization of crime fighting adventurers, Phineas is no stranger to peril and derring-do. But when the Society founder dies, Phineas embarks on a daring and improbable caper to bring the good doctor's greatest dream to fruition posthumously. In the process, he not only horrifies his Society brothers, but unearths a haunting and compelling mystery. About The Magnetron Chronicles: The Magnetron Chronicles is a serialized steampunk tale told in the grandiose style of Jules Verne, but with satirical Twainian wit. Chapter by chapter, the story builds as quirky new characters join the fray and perplexing new mysteries and situations arise. Traveling the globe, Phineas Magnetron and his Hogalum Society encounter suspicious policemen, mentally ill criminals, wood-craving aliens, a witch doctor, a mad oracle, and a cross-dressing female matador, among many others. However, this "steam dream team" always manages to triumph over impossible odds and improbable obstacles as they preserve order in a disorderly world. "It was not exactly dark, but a kind of twilight or gloaming. There were neither windows nor candles, and he could not make out where the twilight came from, if not through the walls and roof." -Childe Rowland "The voices melted into the twilight and were mixed into the trees, and when I thought of the words they too melted away, and were mixed with the generations of men." -William Butler Yeats

Jess Knight likes her freedom. Despite being in jail for about sixty-five percent of her teenage life, she is in complete control. But there's only one problem: she doesn't know her purpose. One day, everything changes. Her reputation as the youngest and most connected solo street criminal gets her noticed by the illustrious crime society known as the Maryland Mafia, who offer her the deal she literally can't refuse. That same day, Jess is arrested by a junior officer at the downtown precinct. Something about Nick Bronson transforms the way Jess sees the world and she can't let him go. But is dating a cop the wisest move for a teenage criminal about to commit the dirtiest crime there is? One thing's for sure; life as a jailbird isn't always as free as it seems. AUTHOR'S NOTE: This story is one I've been writing on and off between the Rouge series, and I wanted to share it with you guys. It's a bit rough and still not completely finished, but I felt guilty for delaying Consuming Fire. What's it really about? Think Veronica Mars and the PCH Bikers, only instead of following the law, Jess breaks it. Cover by Isabella Modra

At sixteen, could you run the world? Could you look after the food, the water, the electricity, the government... the children? Evie Ballentrae isn't equipped to deal with any of that. But like everyone else her age, she doesn't have a choice. 'The Fan and The Things That Hit It,' is the Part I of The Sleep. - "At first I thought it was a joke. Some sort of well-orchestrated, viral meme thing. An overly elaborate flash mob. But after a few hours it was serious, after a day it was scary, the weeks passed and it was terrifying, and now... Now we have to make some serious decisions about how to live, and more importantly, what to live for." -

So much for an easy way to go. After thirty nine long years, each squandered day chained inexorably and uneventfully to the next, this is how it ends. How appropriate. Blinking back tears, Joanna shakes out another handful of pills into the palm of her hand... Environmental catastrophe, dismissed by many as myth or propaganda, is now an impending reality. Tides are rising and storms are brewing. Meanwhile, in a small-town suburban home, a small family is fraying at the seams, and on the brink of a collapse of their own. Following the suicide of his wife and imprisoned by grief, Arnold witnesses the inexorable downwards spiral of his neighbourhood on television, from the confines of his living room. Fifty years on, his son Noah is thrust into a dense, compact Britain he hardly recognizes, adrift in a society in the throes of transformation. Years later, the experiment falters and Nature threatens to take over entirely. Noah’s daughter Eve faces unimaginable consequences and her will to survive is tested to its limits... THE FALL OF MAN begins in the Britain of today. Three successive generations struggle to exist in a future rife with change. Their story chronicles a series of cataclysmic, global events, from the perspective of an all-too-human family. Two new chapters to be added each week...
