Vic Fuentes: a devoted skater and an introvert moves from Detroit, Michigan to Austin, Texas because of his father's work. He is shy, a bit of a loner, and most of all, is very much attracted to Kellin Quinn, whom is the lead singer for a psychedelic punk band and probably the biggest asshole he'd ever come across.

The depressive feeling of emptiness consumes Vic almost every day. His parents don't pay much attention to him, and when they do, it's for all of the wrong reasons. Captain of the varsity basket ball team and Mr. Popular, Kellin Quinn basically has his life handed to him. Or so everyone thinks...

Cal Bennett lives to forget regret; his entire existence agonizingly consistent. He plans to jump off an overpass in Eugene, Oregon. He is almost successful, that is, until Adam Olivas catches him before he even knew he was falling.

Kellin Bostwick has lived in a large city for as long as he can remember. However, after his parents divorce and his father wins full custody, he is forced to move into the small logging town of Machias, Maine. There he makes the varsity soccer team, plays lead piano for the choir, and befriends a majority of his graduating class, including the odd, animal-loving social outcast, Vic Fuentes.
