In the settlement of Briarwood lived Sybil Grey, daughter to a nobleman and the owner of a smithy shop within the small town. Thirteen summers have passed since Sybil's birth and upon her birth the announcement of her betrothal to Nathaniel Grey, the son of the Grand Duke of Castleton Forest of the Northern Wood and heir to his lordship. Lady Sybil Grey is sold into a loveless marriage, forced to leave the small town of Briarwood and travel several leagues away from her home. Sybil finds Castleton Forest cold and unforgiving, with the strange rituals of prayer and consummating her marriage within the public's eye upon her wedding night. She is instructed to bare Nathaniel Grey's heirs. If she fails to complete the task of providing sons, however, The Grand Duke may terminate the union between their two households and execute his son's young bride. Sybil must participate in these barbaric acts thrust upon her by her dear papa in this foreign land with an unloving husband she knows little about and his cruel father, The Grand Duke. May the mother Mary have mercy upon Lady Sybil Grey's soul as she is forced to become a bride, a mother, and soon the Grand Duchess of Castleton Forest of the Northern Wood.
