Valencia Acoste never thought about having a 'pen pal' until a assignment given by her English teacher - also having to send letters back and forth to them for two weeks. Her first thought is getting someone who's very boring and having nothing in common at all. In reality, it wasn't what she expected. She gets paired up with a guy named Isaac and has similar interests to her, except the fact he has an obsession with scarves for an apparent reason. After the two weeks is up she continues to send letters, very interested in learning more about him. It soon gets to a point where she wants to video chat with him. He tells her his camera on his phone is broken, and he doesn't have a computer. First thinking he's telling the truth, but when it starts becoming a habit of constant lies, she's still determined to meet him. Valencia goes another two weeks without receiving a letter from him, quickly jumping to a conclusion that he doesn't want to talk anymore. But one day, he sends a reply explaining why he lied to her about not wanting to video chat with her. Actually, that wasn't all what he was hiding the whole time.
