As the son of the devil, Brannon Dremain has lived a life that was filled with happiness; he's never wanted for anything and given more than he could ever need. The only thing that his parents expect of him is to complete his schooling and try not to get into trouble. Emily Feldman is hiding something; it is constricting and consuming, taking her to a dark place that she fears to tread. She doesn't want to, but she has little choice. Either she does as she is told or she knows that her life will not be pleasant. Their future is one that is fraught with danger, Brannon and Emily know that the path ahead of them is lined with people that would rather see them suffer and with their pain, returning the balance of power to heaven. The trinity of hell is on the verge of being in trouble, one wrong move and it could fall down around them. **Strongly recommended that you read The Devil's Love first** © These stories and works are copyrighted. "None of us really changes over time. We only become more fully what we are." - The Vampire Lestat, 1985 - Anne Rice What is the nature of change? As a vampire, I should know. I changed in ways most cannot even imagine. I started out as one thing; a creature of daylight, of aging, of hopes, and dreams that I would fill my fleeting existence with copious joy, so that when I found myself on the other side, I could say I lived well. Authentically, as myself. Then I became something else; a creature of darkness, of agelessness, of seduction and bloodlust, and an eternity where everything changed but me, in which I lost myself entirely. Is there an irony to that? That I went through the biggest transition possible, and in the aftermath, I lost my ability to change at all. Was that an ending or a beginning? In truth, it was neither. Perhaps for others it is. Perhaps that first bite - the bite of a sire into their progeny's throat, or the bite of the progeny at their sire's wrist - maybe that is both an ending and a beginning. The catalyst that erases every plan that came before and opens the door to a different world; a world of shadow, hunger, strength, and predatory drives. Maybe for most, that moment is pivotal; the cornerstone of a convert's fate. Whether they choose to become vampire or have their humanity stolen against their will, it doesn't matter. Those moments of feeding and being fed are still defining... for anyone but me. You see, my pivotal moment came nine months before my transition, on a cold December morning in fourteen eighty-four... The events of that day left me unable to walk, in a time before accessibility. My father tried to give me back my life, using forces he didn't understand. He condemned me to this eternity, unable to do any of the things I loved. Those first few centuries were unbearable, but even in the modern world isn't easy to navigate the night as a disabled immortal, especially when vampires with magic start turning up dead.

››BOOK 2 OF PREY‹‹ I was born into a world forever meant to be against me. Into a world, I was never supposed to get the opportunity to know. Created as lowly property to the savage, blood-thirsty predators that have long since dominated these lands. It was a fate I'd once accepted without question. As awful as it was, it was all I had to cling to until the moment where even that got swept up under me by the vampire who I once believed would cause my life's end. Now I had a clear slate, a new beginning, and the worlds fiercest being right at my side.

Kalyna's family died, murdered by vampires. For five years, she hunted down those responsible for killing her husband and children, and the end was finally in sight. As she watched the last nest burn to the ground, she almost believed that the fight was over; that she could finally fade away. She made no attempt to flee the scene, accepting that and jury would convict of arson with intent to endanger life. Let them leave her to rot in a prison, she had nothing left to tie her to the world anyway, not now her vengeance had been served. Despite her plan for surrender, others had schemes of their own; schemes that didn't involve jail cells and court rooms. Not for Kalyna, at least. When dispatch ordered her arresting officers to hand her over to a unit from Special Branch, she began to think something might be amiss, but she wasn't prepared for the undercover agent in a Police Sergeant's uniform. The vampire - with his amber and honey eyes that flashed silver in the darkness, and his razor sharp fangs - terrified her. She had no doubt that he would punish her for hunting his kind, and her first instinct was to flee. Yet she wasn't prepared for him, or the organisation he worked for, or what he had to say about her own origins. Just what was the Occult Task Force? What heritage made Kalyna so interesting to supernaturals of all varieties? And could she really sign on to fight in a bigger battle, one that stretched far beyond a few rogue vampires? Could she learn to fight side by side with the very creatures she had spent five years hunting? More importantly, what dark things waited in the shadows where others feared to tread? Kalyna was about to find out, and she had no idea if she was up to the challenge, or if Staff Sergeant Dunstan Eorl would be the death of her first.

After five years hunting down the vampires who had killed her family, living alone, outside society, Kalyna had finally found a home. She had signed up as a trainee with the Occult Task Force, a cross-species military branch where supernaturals and humans fought together against the darkest forces threatening this and every world in existence. Not only that, but she'd finally put her trust in someone; the amber and honey-eyed Staff Sergeant Dunstan Eorl, the vampire who'd held her together when no one else could. Her first problem...? The sire who'd enslaved Dunstan and tortured him for four hundred years now had her sights on Kalyna, asking that Dunstan trade her freedom for that of his wife; a wife he'd thought had died centuries earlier, but who had actually shared his grim fate. Not only that, but his sire, Laelia, seemed to be working with a cult who had no qualms about sacrificing people to open a 'door' and welcome their Lord. Her second problem? No one knew what or where the door was, who the cult worshipped, or why they needed Kalyna. Maybe the answer to that led back to her strange heritage, which included more supernatural strains than should have been possible, andr which had given her more instinctual magic than anyone could fathom. She hadn't even scratched the surface of what she was, but she feared that by the time she understood where she came from, it might be too late to save herself from the target painted on her back, or from the magnetism that drew misfortune toward her with unerring regularity. She was beginning to feel like a liability. Like perhaps her bad luck would eventually get someone else killed.

Lydia Anabor's life was one full of peace and adventure growing up side by side with her father. The only thing that really bugged her was the constant, repetitive dream she's had ever since the day she turned 18. She tried to ignore it early on and act like the constant reminder of a dream she didn't understand didn't bother her, like the hours of research it caused her weren't that valuable. She told herself to just not think about it. To just accept it as something that she wasn't going to understand. Except the day that her dream finally changed brought her face to face with a wolf. A wolf that brought her a day full of aggravation, confusion, and a strange feeling she couldn't quite explain. ~~~ "Okay. So what, you're like a dog... person... wolf thing?" He bit his lower lip in what looked like an attempt to stop a laugh. "Sure. But personally we call ourselves werewolves." "Were...wolves?" Another nod. "Yup, and judging by you're reaction to all of this, I take it that you're unaware of the fact that you're one as well." My eyes bulged. "I've never even seen a wolf until today. I think I'd know if I was part wolf." I countered. "I'd think so as well, but we can figure that out later I'm just happy that I found you." "Why?" His lips quirked up. "Because Lydia, you and I are mates, and I've been looking for you for a very long time," he said, with a grin that showed off his ridiculously sharp canines. My body seemed to shiver at the very word itself, despite my confusion that just seemed to keep growing. "Mates? Like buds? Friends? Chummy chum pals?" I think my desperation for some common sense was becoming a little too evident. His smooth chuckle filled the room. "Not quite." Is all he said "Then what?" I was surprised to see him actually reach a hand through the bars towards me. "Come here and let me show you."

What if everything you knew about yourself was a lie? Mildred "Mills" Millhatten had a good life: close-knit family, fantastic friends, decent grades and even a not-totally-annoying kid brother. You might say it was the best kind of ordinary. So nothing could have prepared her for being taken and cast into a strange, vicious world that she didn't know existed and has little hope of understanding. As a Bleeder - one whose lifeblood feeds the Nosferatu - her continued survival hangs ever in the balance. The creatures are keeping her alive because they believe her blood has mystical properties. Mills fears what will happen when they realize they are wrong. If she hopes to survive and discover who she truly is, she needs an ally. She needs to befriend the mysterious boy who's been secretly visiting her cell, even though he's destined to become a bloodthirsty monster. Because she lives in their world now, and if she doesn't do something fast, she's going to die in it too.
