After five years hunting down the vampires who had killed her family, living alone, outside society, Kalyna had finally found a home. She had signed up as a trainee with the Occult Task Force, a cross-species military branch where supernaturals and humans fought together against the darkest forces threatening this and every world in existence. Not only that, but she'd finally put her trust in someone; the amber and honey-eyed Staff Sergeant Dunstan Eorl, the vampire who'd held her together when no one else could. Her first problem...? The sire who'd enslaved Dunstan and tortured him for four hundred years now had her sights on Kalyna, asking that Dunstan trade her freedom for that of his wife; a wife he'd thought had died centuries earlier, but who had actually shared his grim fate. Not only that, but his sire, Laelia, seemed to be working with a cult who had no qualms about sacrificing people to open a 'door' and welcome their Lord. Her second problem? No one knew what or where the door was, who the cult worshipped, or why they needed Kalyna. Maybe the answer to that led back to her strange heritage, which included more supernatural strains than should have been possible, andr which had given her more instinctual magic than anyone could fathom. She hadn't even scratched the surface of what she was, but she feared that by the time she understood where she came from, it might be too late to save herself from the target painted on her back, or from the magnetism that drew misfortune toward her with unerring regularity. She was beginning to feel like a liability. Like perhaps her bad luck would eventually get someone else killed.

Eilidh was a normal university student until her parents died and her brother disappeared. Now, three years on she's finally ready to get her life back on track, even if that means working as a stripper to pay her way through finishing her degree. That decision seems to be paying off, right until a customer decides she should be his personal play thing. As punishment for refusing him, he fatally wounds Eilidh and the only option left to her is to make a deal with the devil, so to speak. The only problem is, she's not really sure what the fanged demon is asking for in return for her life. Even though she agrees, she can't help feeling she might one day regret that decision. After all, vampires may have conceded to live by human rules but their natures haven't changed. Some of them still crave fear, pain, seduction and the darkest types of corruption.

He grabbed her by the waist and pushed her against the door frame, his mouth covering hers in a frenzy of electric kisses. She gasped in shock, ready to fight, then melted as his lips moved across hers. They stumbled back into the room, and Sean barely remembering to kick the door shut behind him. He let go and allowed himself to get lost in her, his hands moving of their own volition. He needed this. He needed her! Sarah lifted her head for air when he grabbed the backs of her thighs, hauling her up and pressing her back to the wall. She wanted to ask what this was about, but when he licked her collarbone, she decided conversation could wait! Sean had Sarah's body wrapped around his in a matter of seconds, and he wasted no time carrying her to her bed. He was kicking off his shoes along the way, sending both flying in unknown directions, and he didn't give a damn! Sarah was tearing at his clothes as much as he tore at hers. She was half naked by the time her mattress was underneath her. She watched as Sean ripped his shirt off, throwing it across the room. She watched the muscles in his chest and abdomen flex and ripple, her racing heart beginning to beat even faster! She sat still long enough for him to pull off the jeans he was wearing, then jumped into his arms, her teeth nipping at his neck as he stepped back.
