Nellie Dreher has spent her whole life waiting for something to finally happen. In her small lakeside town, everything has stayed the same way since long before the Civil War ever started. She's grown up with all of the same kids that were in her very first Sunday school class, and she can recite every detail about the measly other 250 people living in town. When Indie Rao came riding into town on her old school bus, she didn't expect to find Franklin to be any different from all the numerous other towns that she's visited that summer. She expected to spent a few days there by the water before continuing on with her plan of seeing as many East Coast towns as possible, but days soon turn into weeks spent in little hazy Franklin.
