In a world of steam-powered machines and mechanical wonders, orphan Dorothea Dovetail possesses an extraordinary inheritance: a mysterious parchment that can transform lifeless matter into living constructs. When Dorothea is abducted by the Commission, a corrupt organisation seeking to dominate the world, she learns that the parchment is also the key to the legendary Golem City - a lost civilisation said to contain the secret of creating immensely powerful golems. After escaping her captors, Dorothea finds friendship and refuge with Turner Hullin, a courageous miner's son. But the Commission is never far behind. Hunted by the ruthless General Balsa, Dorothea and Turner join forces with Silverio Herrera, the leader of a secret band of government spies, in a desperate race to reach the hidden city first. As ancient powers awaken and the Commission closes in, Dorothea must uncover the truth about her family's past and decide how far she is willing to go to keep the city's secrets from those who would use them to enslave the world.

My name is Tide. I'd love to say hi and all, but if I tell you my location two very bad things could happen. First, someone who isn't really on my list of favorite people might find the information. Then, they would hunt us down and try to use our powers to take over the world and other maniacal things. Yeah, not so fun. However, I'd like it if people knew how things really happened. You may see things on the news, and they may sound bad, but trust me, this is the real story. Because I'm an Elemental. And somebody needs to set the record straight.* [Action #101] [Fantasy #2] :: cover credit goes to the lovely ATXNNA :: *heyo so this book is pretty old, some (a lot of) spelling mistakes, some (a lot of) plot holes, but if you're looking for some fast paced action and some sarcasm and some cliche romance you should honestly just go to the second book but yeah, this has got that, just with, you know, the glaring faults in the story line. Just a warning.
