When fifteen year old Drake was born, they called him boneless. Destined to die for what his clan called an abnormality, the love of his mother saved him. But growing up with a weak bone disease meant he cannot fight, hunt, joust, or draw a blood-sigil that has become a custom for every kid. Considered a weakling by many including his family, Drake knows his only chance to succeed is to learn faster and work twice harder than the other boys, but he lacks the very thing that defines greatness amongst his clan; the ability to wield a blood bonded magic. When a failed assassination attempt leaves him lost in the woods, a chance encounter sets him upon a strange creature with secrets that could change his life or destroy him. In the prominent cities of the Nine Worlds, an assassin strikes fear in the hearts of Kings. People whisper of the Black Fury, a goddess of vengeance, but Zelos Shadowstealer is just a girl burdened by a great power, whose identity, happiness, and future have been enslaved to serve the greed of her masters. Kingdoms have fallen, wars ignited, and great names extinguished at the edge of her blade, but when she is set upon a young prince doomed to die by her hand, she begins to entertain questions that leaves her with two choices- smother the affection that had sprouted in her cold heart or be hunted by the murderers she had once served. In a world where a strong arm and a cold heart rules, the two begin to realize that the line between withering and surviving is truly thin.

"What the hell?" I took a step closer to the mirror, staring at my reflection in disbelief. The person looking back was still me, but at the same time it wasn't. I had the same thick, dark, curly hair. The same hazel eyes. The same olive skin with a light dusting of freckles (ugh) scattered across the bridge of my nose. But my curls were now streaked with highlights. And not the subtle, golden-brown ones that sometimes appeared during the summer. No, these were an aggressive, dazzling blond that went from the roots of my hair all the way to the tips. It looked like I had spent a full day getting my hair done in some upscale salon. Never mind that I had never set foot in such a place since the day I was born. My eyes appeared somehow wider and more luminous. The colour brighter, my eyelashes darker up against them. And, when I looked closely, my pupils seemed to be slitted almost like a cat. I looked down at my body. My skinny arms-which had always refused to gain any definition no matter how hard I exercised-were lined with flat, wiry muscles. My bony shoulders were now curved and smooth. My scrawny legs were toned like a dancer. I reached down and lifted my shirt, revealing two subtle lines running vertically down my perfectly flat stomach, hinting at the rock-hard abs underneath. My whole body was rippling with strength. Like liquid steel.

Born in a strange new world and raised as a Viking Warrior in another, Kata Haldorssdottir didn't fit in. Raiders change her life in a moment, though, when her father is struck down in front of her. Knowing his life is nearly at an end, Haldor Hakonsson remembers his long ago promise to Kata's mother, Summer Rain. He orders a ship and Kata embarks on a journey that turns her world upside down. Among her mother's people, she is expected to be meek and subservient, but that is not part of Kata's nature. She is different in all ways. The People are short and she is tall. Where they are dark, she is blonde. The women are soft, while she is a hardened warrior with the skills of a man. She does not know how to cook or sew, only to fight and hunt. Inadvertently, she draws the attention of Dark Hawk, a man whose only wish is to subdue her. Spurning his advances makes her a powerful enemy. When she is allowed by the village shaman, to become a warrior and hunter of the tribe, her enemy steps up his game. Only Running Deer, the son of Chief Soaring Eagle, and her staunch friend, Night Moon, stand by her side. The tribe mistrusts her as a stranger, and Day Star, as Kata is now called, must fight for her place among the People, or return home. https://www.amazon.com/Viking-Squaw-Domri-Stevens/dp/1499223196?ref=d6k_applink_bb_dls&dplnkId=e31e451a-7cb1-4bb2-a294-c1fc5e932fb0
