The sound of the gun going off echoed through the silent alleyway, I felt him go still in my arms, his chest slowly stopped heaving. I was leaning against the brick wall behind me and his weight begin to lean against me. I sunk to the ground, still clinging to him, refusing to let go, my face still pressed against the nape of his neck. As the ringing in my ears subsided along with the echo of the gun it was replaced with silence. Complete silence, a wet sticky substance started to soak my hands but I ignored it. Tears stained my cheeks, my entire body shaking as I held him close to me, my back against the wall, the brick digging into my back, I didn't let him go, even as I felt the warmth spread across his chest, soaking through his shirt, covering my hands, creating a puddle of red around us. I refused to let him go, slowly I lifted my head my eyes opened, I was alone, the man was gone, leaving nothing behind. And the man that saved my life more times then I can count, lied dying in my arms. His chin rested against his chest, his head slightly to the sides, his chest barely moved under my hands, I did nothing, I said nothing, I just sat there on the ground, his head against my chest, thunder rumbled above as lightning flashed brightly in the sky and just as the first drop of rain fell I cried.
