Paradise Louisiana is anything but. At first glance this tiny South Louisiana community seems typical of any Cajun town. Geaux Tigers and Who Dat banners adorn shop windows....But when the sun goes down, the ginormous waterbugs are not the only thing scurrying in the dark. Allisa had always been called a child prodigy, and skipped through more than a few grades, testing at the high school level in most subjects at twelve and earning a doctorate degree at age 18. Unlike most college graduates, Allisa cannot leave the tiny town in her job search. Because from the age of fifteen, she has suspected that she was brought to the town under false pretenses, to be a prisoner. Her intellect was needed to save the oldest inhabitants of Paradise. Residents that settled hundreds of years ago, and are still living among the population. The tattoo shop flashing it's neon sign on the corner does not use pure ink in it's designs. The bar next to it has had a house band, the same house band for centuries. The hospital houses a terminal ward of patients that were never supposed to die. While trapped in Paradise, she has formed the tightest of friendship bonds, and found true love.
