My mother always told me when life gives you lemons, you make lemonade. When someone knocks you down, you get right back up. You fight the good fight until you have nothing left. You fight with honor, you protect the ones you love, and if you just happen to die in the process, than you do so with dignity and grace. What my mother neglected to tell me during my studies was that you don't always get what you want, the outcome you think is coming doesn't always happen, and when the smoke clears, you're always going to be the last one standing. By the end of The Certainty, Georgiana Vertigo is left with nothing more than her life, something many people would be more than happy to have. However, Georgiana is left to her own devices in a strange city, alone and heartbroken with regular intense bouts of depression. In starting a new life with the Guild, Georgiana has everything she needs in order to move on with her life and keep her mind off the past. Only problem is, the past is never truly forgotten and no matter how hard you try to shake them, the feelings that go along with the memories don't just fade away. ~ * ~ Alright, chickens. You asked for it (some of you at least) and here it is...well...part of it. Like I've told a few of you, this is a work in progress. I add pieces to it when I think of them. The posting on this story will NOT be regular but thankfully for you, I have quite a bit of it done. I just haven't decided if the path I take it down is the right one. So. I hope you enjoy it and I will give you a forewarning that as the story progresses, it gets a bit more adult. For those of us just joining the party because they stumbled across it in the Paranormal category, there is a whole series of books you have to read until you get to this one. Go start with The Beginning. You can find it under "My Works" on my home page.

Natalie Abernathy was born into a world where the lines on your skin tell everyone who you are. They appear like tattoos and change with every choice you make, every person you meet. Only one line remains constant. Your love line. The only colored line on the human's skin, a blood red mixed in with the black. Natalie's world is consumed with The Sickness, the next stage in human evolution that can strike you when you are fourteen. Or doesn't. If you survive The Sickness, you become one of the Elite, faster, stronger, smarter than the humans who don't get The Sickness. The Elite's lines are colorful, beautiful in their own way. A mixture of deepest purples, the darkest blues, and dominate greens. They cover the black lines the Elite were given at birth, rewriting their destinies forever. As Natalie comes to find, the Elite aren't what they seem. The Sickness is not what it seems. Her heart is broken by the loss of her best friend Cecil McCourt, who succumbed to The Sickness days before their shared fifteenth birthday. Her friends surround her, trying to fill the void left by Cecil. Time moved on, carrying Natalie along with it. Now it's three years later, everyone's senior year. Days before school starts, Natalie befriends the new boy in town, Union Davidson. Cecil (now known as Cyrus) is quick to warn her away from him. At first she thinks it's a trick but as things start to happen, Natalie finds herself trapped between the thing she wants most in the world and something else quite darker than she imagined. © SCCourtney ~ * ~ Finalist in the Watty's 2012

American McGee's Alice fanfiction - After ten long years, Alice is finally able to leave Rutledge's Asylum, but with no memory of why she was originally admitted. All she remembers is the fire that killed her parents, and she has put it behind her. She has dealt with that, convinced she is sane. Alice goes home with her hopeful sister, Wendy, ready to embrace the life that she has missed so much of - but despite what she might have forgotten, Wonderland simply will not let her go. Wonderland has been disregarded, but once it begins to resurface in Alice's mind, she cannot escape it. A new doctor wants her to remember; her sister's husband suspects that she never forgot. Alice is haunted by visions that she doesn't understand, of white rabbits and smiling cats. She struggles for a sense of normality - to be a good sister and an aunt to her young niece, Morgan - but she can't stop feeling that she is a danger to herself and to others. When Morgan falls into a mysterious coma, Alice must face the horrors of a place she once thought to be only in her mind, and relive the events of the past which forced her to forget.

I watched as my brush went through my long black hair in the mirror. I was getting ready to go to bed, and maybe have my boyfriend sneak over. Something in the window caught my eye, but when I turned around nothing was there. I shrugged it off, and put my brush down then turned out the lights to my room. I grabbed my phone and called Patrick. "Hey babe. I think they're asleep so you want to come over?" "Yeah I'll be there in ten." I hung up the phone, and went to my bed then laid down. Again I saw something pass by the window, but when I looked there was nothing. Probably just a stupid animal or something. I put on my headphones and played music as I waited for Patrick to come over. Later on I would realize I should have checked what was outside. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I've done this many times before so I have it down to a T. The last girl was too weak because she ended up killing herself before my plan was complete so it has left me wanting even more. This one I'm making sure will be a challenge to fill the void left behind. I'll have to do more research before going in and starting up this new plan. Soon though I would make myself known, but first I have to make myself look plain. Just your everyday normal girl new to school. Let her come talk to me first so I won't bring too much suspicion on me. I watched her movements from the mirror to her bed. Soon my dear Becca, very soon.

She is a guest at the Royal Air Temples and with Nathaniel back by her side, she suddenly feels as though she can take on the world. But the world might be slightly bigger than Circe has expected. What is she to make of the Queen of the Air, who seems to hold all the answers to Circe's questions in the palm of her hand, both those she has asked, and those which she is still to ask? And what of Prince Zalas, the white eyed boy who radiates an untamed and mysterious power from every pore? Meanwhile the dark and dangerous Obsidian Bones waits for her just outside the Kingdom walls with perhaps the biggest secret of them all ... Everything has changed from that fateful day that Circe was snatched in the night.
