There was a hidden mansion of a deceased family mage bloodline which holds precious artifacts that are the keys to victory to the current war of Servants and Masters. Better than the summary because I suck at writing summaries, really who doesn't though? Derek's family never died in a fire, he still lives in Beacon Hills but they live else where.
