He begins a search for who this friend could be. He wants to find the person who has such similair outlooks on life. He needs to feel like he isn't alone anymore, like maybe everybody isn't so similar to everybody else. A bit of color in a dull world. Or maybe she is a bit of calm black in a crowded, over-bright world. Maggy needs a way to communicate her true feelings. She needs to open up before it all suddenly implodes.
