Shunned by others, his parents shelter him from the world around him, but at the age of five Thalcon must be sent away. For the next two years he is trapped in the Treemons, a castle built on the trees. Graduation finally comes around and Thalcon is allowed to return home for a short while before returning for the next level. On the way home, Elasfen is abruptly attacked by a Drow assault party.
