Saudade is a Portuguese language word difficult to translate adequately, which describes a deep emotional state of nostalgic longing for someone that once was found and now is lost. It often carries a fatalist tone and a repressed knowledge that the object of longing might really never return. Saudade was once described “the love that remains” after someone is gone It can be described as emptiness, like someone that should be there is missing, and the individual feels this absence. “I lied, sorry. I lied a lot to you. I thought I was way too broken to be fixed, but…I think I’m getting better now. I think I’m finally getting over you. I used to think I couldn’t live without you… Us… But I can. It’s not as good, but it’s… living.”
