My anger has peaked. My knuckles are probably white from the grip I have on the edge of the pool. I take in deep breaths and try to calm myself down. I came out here to calm down, why did she have to follow me? I stand up to once again get some distance. I watch as she stands up as well. On my way to the gate I see her sit down on a lounge chair to put her shoes back on. I stop as I barely hear her say something but I can't hear what. I turn back around to her. "What did you say?" I ask with a little more anger in my voice than planned. She isn't looking at me but off towards the pool. "Why wouldn't you kiss me?" She quietly asks. All commonsense leaves me as I storm back over to her. She leans back in the chair as I hover over her. Her eyes are wide with surprise. I look from her big doe eyes down to her lips. I feel my dick stir but I ignore it. I lean down closer and whisper in her ear. "If and when I decide to kiss you sweet Penelope, I want you sober. So when you beg for more we both know you will remember who made you feel that way. And there won't be an audience" I stand back up and walk away. -------------------- rundown - informally known as a pickle, is a situation in baseball that occurs when the baserunner is stranded between two bases and is in jeopardy of being tagged out. --------------------- Ephraim Wright comes back to town after 6 years. After spending most of her life surrounded by the noise and chaos of the big city, Winnie Grant found herself yearning for something quieter-something real. When the restlessness became too loud to ignore, she did the unthinkable: she quit her job, packed away the pieces of her old life, and accepted a new position in Red Lodge, Montana-a small town where everyone knew everyone, and secrets traveled faster than the wind. As the city skyline disappeared in her rearview mirror, Winnie could only hope she was making the right choice. Her new home was everything she hadn't realized she needed-quiet, quaint, and surrounded by the kind of stillness that made her both uneasy and comforted. After a few days of settling in, curiosity (and perhaps a touch of loneliness) led her to the local bar-a warm, wood-paneled place that smelled faintly of pine and spilled whiskey. That was where she met him. Sheriff Ben Langley. The man everyone in town seemed to know, and more than a few wished would so much as glance their way. Steady, reserved, and impossibly grounded in this small-town life-he was the last kind of man Winnie expected to notice her. But that night, under the soft glow of the bar's lights, it was the newcomer-the woman with city eyes and a quiet kind of courage-who caught his attention.

Sequel to Bound to Honor In war, trust is fragile. In betrayal, it burns. After surviving an ambush that tore Unit Nine apart from the inside, Lieutenant Colonel Rhys Callan is left picking up the pieces-and burying the man he once called brother. The traitor is dead. But the enemy isn't. And the questions Carter left behind run deeper than blood. Sent home on mandatory leave, the team scatters. Some heal. Some drink. Some disappear. Major Cecelia Livingston doesn't have that luxury. Still recovering from the last mission-and from being used as a hostage in Carter's final act-she's barely holding it together. The base is quiet. Too quiet. And Callan is keeping his distance. Again. But the silence doesn't last. Encrypted messages. Unexplained surveillance. A buried file Carter never had clearance for. Something is still moving behind the curtain-and all signs point to a larger, darker force pulling the strings. As secrets surface and loyalties fracture, Cecelia and Callan find themselves drawn back into the fire. The tension between them has never burned hotter-but trust comes slow when the last one you gave it to held you at gunpoint. The line between command and connection is razor-thin. And someone is waiting for them to cross it.

A military romantic suspense novel Major Cecelia Livingston isn't a soldier-she's a doctor. A damn good one. Trained in trauma, decorated with credentials, and hardened by deployment after deployment. But none of that matters the second she steps off the chopper and onto the dirt of an unofficial base that technically doesn't exist. Because the man waiting for her isn't interested in her rank. Or her reputation. Or her orders from command. Lieutenant Colonel Rhys Callan runs one of the most elite black ops units in the field-covert, brutal, and untouchable. He doesn't lose men. And six months ago, he buried his medic. He's not about to risk another one just because someone higher up decided to assign him a field doctor with no combat scars and too much heart. She's not welcome. He doesn't trust her. And he's made that painfully clear. But the mission clock is ticking. Tensions are rising. And when everything explodes-as it always does-there'll be no room for weakness, and no room for mistakes. She's determined to earn her place. He's determined to make sure she never gets close enough to try. In a war where survival depends on control, discipline, and silence, what happens when the one person you don't want in your world becomes the only one you can't lose?
