Hyrule; a story world above the clouds. Starfall; the surface world that doesn't believe in floating islands. Legends of cities in the sky roll across the lands, but no one really believes in them. Only Kaebora, a middle-aged theoretical scientist, and his daughter Zelda openly proclaim that they believe in places such as Hyrule. Hyrule has known peace for seven years thanks to the efforts of Link, the Hero of Time and Zelda, the Princess of Destiny. But the light that shines upon the kingdom quickly turns to darkness when Veran, the merciless Sorceress of Shadows descends upon Hyrule, hunting for those who the pieces of the Triforce. Claiming the golden relic as her own, Veran conquers Hyrule, covering it in shadows and darkness and turning the people against their beloved princess. But as all seems lost, an ancient prophecy comes to light, stating that the sole hope for the kingdom rests with two people alone: one of the blood of the goddess and one of the spirit of the hero. With their cruel and daunting destiny cut out in stone for them, Link and Zelda are entrusted with Hyrule's salvation, but at the same time they are torn between saving the kingdom and saving each other. The surface was supposed to be safe again with Demise defeated, however, its anything but. In the shadows of the uninhabited land lurk rebel Sheikah, who call themselves the Dark Interlopers, who plot against Hylia's human reincarnation, Zelda, and her loyal hero, Link, in secret, building up power to take them both down. Around the same time, Link and Zelda come across a land parallel to the surface, a strange country called Termina, protected by the goddess Terminus. Terminus begs them to help her subdue the mighty Fierce Deity, who was once the goddess's hero before he was corrupted by the demon Majora. Link fights the Deity and defeats him, but he is wounded in the battle and filled with the demon's corruption himself. As he and Zelda return to their own land, the hero slowly starts losing himself mentally and physically, ultimately putting Zelda's life in danger as he tries to fight against something he cannot control. To make matters worse, the Dark Interlopers soon launch a massive attack against the two of them, capturing Zelda and leaving Link for dead. He is found and saved by the mysterious Sheik, the leader of the Sheikah who are still loyal to Hylia. With both the surface and the sky in great danger, the hero must fight to save them and the goddess once more, all while fighting the corruption that he is falling ever deeper into.
