This story was inspired by the three-part story Nathalie_95 wrote for imaginexhobbit.tumblr.com (it's a three part drabble for the imagine: 'Imagine Fili and Kili befriending you so they can play matchmaker to Thorin' - and it is one of my favorites). The Hayward Rose is set in an AU where *Possible Spoiler Alert* Thorin, Fili, and Kili actually survive the BOTFA (don't say that I didn't warn you). When I read the aforementioned story by Nathalie_95, I began to wonder what might happen after the BOTFA and Thorin and the central character become betrothed. A Thorin Oakenshield Love Story. This story takes place before the events of The Hobbit. During the time Thorin lived in the Blue Mountains. Queen Freya has been married to Thorin for twenty four years, but still they are childless. Rumors begin to spread that their Queen is unable to produce a child and that she is unfit to be Queen. Or maybe Freya just would not let Thorin touch her. This is a story of love, loyalty, and heartbreak. Will Mahal bless the King and his Queen with a child or will it forever be a long winter. Thorin is alive! Jaedda is alive! Azog is alive! Wait, what? When Azog is resurrected by Sauron (or as we know him, the Necromancer), he is back to take out another race, specifically the dwarves. Little does he know, the race he tried to eliminate before, isn't completely wiped out yet...
