What's worse than waking up on the side of the road in the middle of the apocalypse? Waking up on the side of the road in the middle of the apocalypse with absolutely no memory of anything. You don't know who you are or where you were going. All you know is that you trusted your life in the hands of a sheriff's deputy in hopes of a better outcome than being eaten alive. Surviving in a world ruled by the dead is hard. Surviving this world while also trying to hold back the black shadows of your past is even worse. His heart has long ago stopped, but he keeps on walking. Walking to you.

Every person has to make a life altering decision at some point in their life. For some, it comes early. For others, it's a decision they've had years and years to think on. For you, it was now. Standing alone in an airport you needed to make a decision that would change the course of the rest of your life. You don't have years to think about it. Hell, you barely have ten minutes to think about it. Those planes are going to leave regardless of whether or not you're on one of them. So what will it be? What are you going to do?

When society crumbled? Where were you when order and structure were replaced with complete and total chaos? Where were you when the dead began to rise? Bad news tended to create lasting memories. It was easy for some to remember the exact moment in their lives when they found out the world they knew was dead. Some were in the safety of their home watching news stories of people being torn apart and eaten alive. Some were out on the streets rioting and thriving in the waves of trouble this new fear brought. Some learned of the end the hard way as they were forced to witness this cruel new world take a loved one away from them. In the end, it doesn't matter where one was when the end of the world came. It doesn't even matter who one used to be. The dead now ruled the world and they craved the taste of flesh regardless of who it belonged to. The real question now, the only one that truly mattered anymore, was this: Who were you going to become?

Meeting someone in a coffee shop is so clichè. Until it actually happens to you and you realize how if you didn't walk into that coffee shop that day. You would've never met that person. Or see them ever again.

After having a fallout with his so called "friends", Josh starts hiding away in his bedroom. His parents, of course, are concerned, but in not wishing to invade his private life, they get him a dog. Tyler ends up helping Josh over come the plague of loneliness and slight depression, and even helps him find a new friend along the way. Yes, Tyler is a dog. No, this is not a Joshler fic. This is nothing other than an alternative universe story wherein a boy much like Josh Dun owns a dog named Tyler.

Tyler was sad. He was hurt, confused, angry, and scared, too, but most of all, he was sad. He didn't know if it was because he had been stuck in the same town for his entire life or it it was something a bit more serious, but that little uncertainty didn't stop him from applying to colleges all throughout the country and going to the one the furthest away from where he grew up. It wasn't the best choice he had made in his life, but suddenly there's this kid that shows up who dyes his hair a different color almost every month, and maybe, just maybe, he's the cure to Tyler's, well, whatever it is. This story is for all of you who don't know how strong and amazing you are, and for those of you who do. You have the power to do anything you can imagine. Use that power well.
