- WINNER in the @BeautyAndTheBeastUK Writing Challenge Contest!!! - Beauty is not purely skin deep. Children don't necessarily understand this, however. My daughter was suffering from bullying at her new school. I wrote this to show beauty isn't just on the outside. You only need to look. As such, I think it's a fitting entry into the wonderful @BeautyAndTheBeastUK contest. I am stunned that it won! I hope you enjoy it.

The door wasn't there that morning. But now it was. And Steven couldn't help but step through. So why is he at the hotel, and why does that man look and sound so much like him? And why does the touch of another suddenly make him want to vomit? - This story originally appeared in the fantastic Sun Kissed Fantasy anthology, hosted by the genuinely wonderful @RebeccaSky! Check out the other amazing stories here: https://www.wattpad.com/289805056-sun-kissed-a-fantasy-anthology-the-door-by-shaun It's actually based in the One King West Hotel in Toronto, where I stayed when visiting Wattpad HQ and the walk Steven takes is the walk to the HQ offices. It was while having breakfast just as Steven does in this story that I came up with the idea.

Somewhere on the Earth's surface, a heroine called Ghabrie searches for her little sister: or so the 'Net fables say. Ash and Hum, a fighter pair in the underground Pandora system, know their only option is to go aboveground and find Ghabrie. The growing attraction between them, however, complicates everything. Ash and Hum will have to resolve their feelings and escape Pandora before it crumbles - forever. This story originally appeared in the dystopian collection HUMAN 76, available at the usual sources. All sales benefit the international charity Water is Life, so there's that. I retain all copyrights to my story. Ash and Hum will update every Friday.

A super-volcano erupts in the 22nd century, and the ensuing ice age devastates human culture. A hundred and three thousand years later, humanity has recovered, and science has advanced beyond mankind's ancient forebears. My first idea as an author was to write historically accurate fiction about little-known events, with a touch of humor and a bit of sarcasm, which led to Roland the Chronicler-The Louisiana Folly. I learned how challenging historical fiction is in the process of writing it. This is a rewrite of my original story. I hope you enjoy it.

Growing up in an Irish Catholic neighborhood in Baltimore in the 1960's was hard enough when everything went right. Kate Fitzgerald wasn't that lucky. Struggling to cope with unwanted attention from older boys and men, Kate's childhood friendship with shy classmate Gabe Kelsey begins to blossom, but quickly becomes tangled when she falls hard for his darkly handsome older brother, Michael. As the brothers vie for Kate's affections, she doesn't know how to choose between them without tearing their family apart. She looks to her girlfriends for advice, but the tragic death of a classmate brings them face-to-face with mortality, shattering their facade of invincibility. Her dilemma deepens when a predatory priest with a hidden past arrives at Holy Sacrament School. And when she silently witnesses a frightening scene between Gabe and Fr. O'Conner, Kate unknowingly becomes O'Conner's intended next victim.

I'd always heard the voices. From being a young child when the doctors had long since given up trying to find a cause, the voices woke me, screaming, in the night. But then, they began to guide me. When I started to find the dead bodies - animals, children - I was called a psychic. I was used to help, but I could only find what the voices wanted to show me. But then, one day, the killer chose another victim. It chose me, and only the voices could save me. Except, they weren't just voices. They were.... - Whilst on a long (7.5) hour flight to Wattpad HQ in Toronto, I was watching the film Solace. Part way through, an idea threw itself into my mind and I had to stop the film and start writing immediately. I also had another idea later on, again which I had to write down. This is the first of those ideas and is written for the #OnceUponNow promotion. Don't worry, Red Queen is being worked on too, but sometimes you just need to purge yourself of a story to be able to continue on with another.
