Many bloodthirsty horny man of the town of Peekaid lust after the young woman, but one man in the town, one of the richest in the province witnesses the slave trader's harshness with the girl. Jerick of the Tamlin region is new to this province, but still a prominent citizen. He loathes the practice of slavery although in Peekaid in the providence of Koenlay slaves have more rights than anywhere else accept for Tamlin where slavery has been abolished. Still Jerick takes pity on the girl and joins the auction outbidding every man in town.

He gasped in a breath, and she realized he must have inhaled some of the flames Christopher had surrounded him in when she had allowed him to breathe again. “Power.” He rasped. “Your force here alone is evidence of what you can be when you combine with him.” He looked towards Christopher’s prone form on the ground. “The child was an unknown…” “And now she will never be!” She hissed at him. “But neither will you. You should have left us in peace. We would never have come for you.” She leaned in until she was face to face with him. “You lost your life when you took my daughters.” She saw the fear fill his eyes again, and she revealed in it. Without breaking eye contact she pictured his beating heart, her eyes narrowed as she crystallized his life source. His eyes widened as he felt her actions, he clasped a hand to his chest and drew in a staggered breath. “Two by two… You think…you…are removing…the serpents head, but…you know so little…” He gasped his last words. She raised her chin and with a firm set of her jaw, she watched the man die.

Four young adults of each element come together to save the world from the inevitable darkness. Carly, a 17-year-old girl with the element of earth. She has an innocent appearance that you wouldn't expect from such a wild girl. Liekki, a 19-year-old women with the element of fire. She's 4'11" which makes her seem unthreatening. Until you make her angry. Paul, a 19-year-old man with the element of water. He seems level-headed and nice but don't get on his bad side or you just might "accidentally" drown. Zraka, an 18-year-old man with the element of wind. He's calm and collected and if he's angry, then there's a reason and you should be running.
