It's 1995, and Castiel's high school years are destined to be difficult: home-schooled until eighth grade, he is awkward, shy, and socially inept. The weird kid with the funny name would rather isolate himself and draw in his sketchbook than deal with the constant bullying he faces every day. Things only get worse in his junior year when he excels in home economics class, leading the captain of the baseball team, Alastair, to start taunting him for being gay. Then new student Dean Winchester arrives at Flour Bluff High School, sharing many of Castiel's classes. Castiel has seen his type before -- handsome, athletic, arrogant, and sure to be the most popular kid in school. But Castiel eventually learns that he and Dean have more in common than he thought, and they form an unlikely friendship. Both just graduated from different high schools, so they don't know each other yet until college when they have have dorm rooms by each other and a class together. Dean is living with depression and some other mental issues, but his best friend, Kevin is there to help him. They love, they cry, they fear, they yell. It's a Destiel love story you have to read. (Just a warning that this fanfiction is going to have a lot of depressing moments so maybe triggers in it and then a little smut here and there)

When Castiel’s plans for the summer get cancelled and he’s left with nowhere else to go, Dean invites him to go home with him. It seems an easy solution to cure Castiel’s summer blues, but when they arrive at the Winchester household, Dean realizes due to a slight miscommunication with his mom he and Castiel will have to spend the summer sharing a bed and holding hands because the entire Winchester family thinks they’re dating. And really it shouldn't be that big of a deal because Dean Winchester isn't actually in love with his best friend; except for that he is.

Dean has left Cas in desperation. The war had scarred him and it had scarred him bad. With Cas now out of his life, he's even more lost than he was before. Will Cas give in to the pain of the loss of his lover or will he pull through and find Dean along with a way to create that Polaroid picture perfect life they've both so desperately wanted to share together? (I just want to clarify that I did not write the original "Twist and Shout". I recently finished reading it and it had bruised and beat my heart to a pulp. I decided to write an alternative ending that wouldn't leave me soaked in my own tears. My writing may not be as fantastic as the original but I'll attempt it. Please enjoy and to all the other fangirls out there, I hope this eases the pain.)
