It's been known to inklings that when a squid kid turns 14 years old, they have a choice to make. They either choose head out into the world of Inkopolis and learn the art of turf war, or go another route. Susie Ray is one of the many that chose the path to Inkopolis Square, the new nerve center of Inkopolis culture where she meets the inklings that will change her life around. Every new adventure begins with the ending of another. Inkopolis has run down recently, the Great Zapfish has been stolen once again, and Callie has gone missing! I mean, what else could go wrong?

The first time Hotaru Ayako had ever heard of this Inkling was from an unlikely encounter with an enemy. She has been given two choices, to either head down to Octo Valley with her own Octobrush, or face major consequences. And while she, herself is intrigued by this, she decides to spend her summer exploring the undergrounds to uncover this forgotten legend. But what she doesn't know is that her answers might be hidden in places she would not expect. A great evil has been unleashed once again and has reclaimed the Great Zapfish! A strange old man warns that the Octopi are planning on striking against Inkopolis once again.

One year after agent 3 got the great zapfish back from Octavio, a new leader of the octoling army named Octavia wants revenge on those inklings. So Octavia comes up with an evil plan to steal the great zapfish. The plan was a success. They stole the zapfish, once again. And to make things worse, they killed agent 3. Now with agent 3 dead and the zapfish gone, all of inkopolis seems doomed. But not all hope is lost. When cuttlefish needs a new agent. (Or agents) a certain cyan inkling and her best friend volunteers to become the new agents of the squid beak splatoon. Now they must face the fierce challenges that lies in the mysterious octo valley, find the great zapfish and save inkopolis from a horrible fate.
