Sapphire's mournful howls of despair and grief pierced through the battlefield between her fits of hopeless sobbing. It was the sound of heart being shattered into a thousand, tiny bleeding pieces as the mermaid looked upwards. It was as if she was making a vow to the Heavens themselves. "I'll never love again." The words were so soft that Aphrodite almost convinced herself she hadn't heard them at all. They felt more like the echo of a whisper hidden within a half-forgotten dream, but the goddess of love heardthem all the same. "Well, that sounds like a challenge." Open Novella Contest 2020 Entry Based off Prompt #65. You declare to the Heavens that you will never fall in love again. Aphrodite takes that as a challenge.

Blood! So much blood! Too much blood! Too much! And in my heart of hearts I knew: there was no way for him to come back from this. Bud I didn't want to acknowledge it. Not yet. Just a few moments ago I had been sitting at the computer working on some book, with the soft sound of a YouTube video in the background. Everything had been so peaceful. Hopeful, even. But not anymore. A sudden thunder booming through our living room announced the unreversible end of the summer. And that of a precious life. My husband's. But still there is hope and life. Somewhere. Somehow.

Many ghost towns scatter the Midwest, from Arizona to California the forlorn towns call to curiosity seekers, history buffs, and ghost hunters alike. Some abandoned for no reason at all while others fell to economic or natural disasters. But what happens when the town's were abandoned because they were actually haunted? Honestly I think this story is evolving into a western, and I'm not sure how to feel about it.

Faith's once pristine schoolgirl uniform were stained with a myriad of red hues. Blood spurted forth from her lips like water from a fountain. Faith's throat had been torn asunder. "E-Ezara, he's got the others. Hurry!" The sheer terror in the mortally wounded witch's words, had the vampire clutching her rose even tighter against her chest. "If you think I'm leaving you behind, you're out of your little witchy mind. We'll save the others and make him pay for this, my bloody rose." When Faith Collins' childhood friend, Kyle Johnson, gets sent to a boarding school for the best and brightest students in the nation, she can't help but worry. Especially considering that Spero Academy houses both human and supernatural students, something they've been trained to fight against since their monster-hunting parents first adopted them. She can feel the fear in his bones as if it were her own, and she knows that if she doesn't convince her parents to enroll her at Spero, her dreams of a cold grave marker with Kyle's name on it will be more than a nightmare. It will be a reality. But upon her arrival, her cover as a human student get blown to smitheries, placing a target on her back. Because soon, witches all over the school start coming up missing, and all signs point to Ezara Rose, an ethereally beautiful vampire who hides her dark origins behind a veil of sexual innuendo and her Queen Bee status. Neither can ignore the attraction brewing between them any more than they can deny that giving in might cause Faith's demise. And as bodies start piling up like breadcrumbs, Faith knows that she must follow them if she wants to save herself and find out what really happened to Kyle that night.

Morgan told her that he rescued her from the government agency that experimented on her and that she belongs to him. He had proven painfully to her that her new powers don't work against him. She escaped and her rage now falls on the others of his kind. Her goal is simple: take down the bad guys with her fun neuro-electric powers and snarky humor until one of them finally kills her. Can this dragon and his brothers save her from her course of self-destruction? Or will they be dragged down her spiral of revenge and dark humor ? Note to reader : This book is not set in modern day New Orleans. This is a mixture of the New Orleans of my childhood, the New Orleans before Hurricane Katrina, and part fantasy. After Katrina, I needed some fantasy about New Orleans as well. The Brigadier would help her if he could, but he and Malone, his former batman, are far away, each having their own missions to try and ensure the survival of human civilisation. Having completed his latest task, the Brigadier must race to join her, to assist and protect her, but will he reach her before she arrives at the palace of the enemy King? And will the Princess still have a country to be Princess of by the time she arrives there? Because even if Helberion manages to defeat the all conquering armies of Carrow there is another, even deadlier threat waiting in the wings against which there may be no defence...
