Hugo hated summer. But Hugo loved Summer. --------------- Unlike every other teenager his age, Hugo Calder dreaded summer break solely because of the season itself. He hated everything from the heat, to the unbelievable amount of mosquito bites he gets every time he walks out the door of his house. On one hot summer day, he met Summer Collins. And they meet again. Again and again throughout the summer break, until he comes to the conclusion that maybe he doesn't exactly hate everything related to summer. (Camp Nanowrimo July 2014)

Meet our unnamed, 12 year-old main character (AKA, the MC). She’s got a mom who’s always gone, a dad who’s always weird, and an older sister, (Ava) whose intelligent rants are making less sense every day. As the in-fighting at home reaches a boiling point, perfect Ava begins to lose hold on reality, and does something that gets her landed at a nearby hospital. The MC has a feeling (or maybe it’s just wishful thinking) that her sister might be faking. After all all, Ava’s always loved to tell lies. But can the MC get Ava to admit what’s really going on, or is her sister’s transformation simply a genetic reminder of the insanity in store for her, as well? In this southern Gothic inspired tale, we look at the ways in which one family’s history of mental illness helps and hinders as it navigates a breakdown

Seventeen-year-old April Parker wakes up in an underground facility, a shock bracelet on her wrist and a five-day countdown on the clock. Dozens of other teens share her inexplicable fate, but their unseen captors never intervene no matter how brutal conditions become. When the ruthless - and unnervingly magnetic - Marcus seizes control, April's trauma-forged instinct is to lay low. But protecting her friends drives her to bargain with the boy she should fear most - a boy whose reality fractures with every tick. Then the countdown ends, and the real terror begins. Powers ignite. Alliances shatter. And predators are born. And with a saboteur among them determined to keep the doors closed forever, escaping what comes next may be the only way to survive it.

It was pity that first made Dannie speak to him. She had known Ryan since she was a kid, but he had always been the popular Golden Boy, and she had always been the tomboy that didn’t mind not having any friends. It was odd, she had thought, that all the popular kids who had once kissed the ground he walked on, didn’t so much spared him a glance anymore, and it was this that made her sit with him that one faithful day and begin something that would only end up causing her pain.
