An alien Robot came to me before she left to die. She sang to me the stories of how her ancient world and species ended, how she was created to travel through Time, how (in the far future) she met an essential boy named Anders, how she named herself Grace, and more. "They departed like the pale fragments of a final twilight in the history of a dying world."--Ray Bradbury, "Dandelion Wine"

When Laidu, a half-human, half-dragon Ranger, rescues a mysterious girl from slavers, he doesn't know it but he's in for a world of trouble. Teaming up with an insane scholar, a chatty assassin, and two mercenaries, they go to take the girl -Kyra- home. But as they begin to journey onward, they are pursued by a relentless, unkillable monster, hellbent on ending Kyra's life. And Laidu is hearing voices in his head, voices beckoning him to join them in madness, to give in to the dragon within. In this world of old magic and ancient struggles, the Wheel of Time meets Skyrim in a tale of courage, love, heroism, and atonement where old kings rise and immortals die.

I'm not an idiot. I know how the world works. People are born, they live, they die. But the problem is, if you believe the stories, sometimes they don't stay dead. Like me, for example. I made a deal with some supernatural beings to save the life of someone I loved, with unintended consequences. After my death, I became a Guardian -- immortal beings of light and fire who protect mortals from things that go bump in the night. My name is Farrell Raleigh, and this is my life after death.

This is the first work I am submitting - I hope you enjoy it (it is no way near complete and still requires a lot of work). For now it's jumbled and it's as the title says... When Memory Speaks. Snippets from a rendered life that are never continuous, linear or chronological. Everything is random and sudden. Each new part is completely different but essential to the foundations that establish the whole that is you. An individual. Treat most parts as separate and individual. I will incorporate everything eventually. It's a work in progress.
