Katrina's best friend Marco dies in a mall shooting when they're fourteen years old. Three years later, she's starting her senior year of high school and beginning to forget, at last. Her life had become as bearable as it could possibly be, until Ian - Marco's older brother - comes back to town. He comes back changed, dangerous, and enigmatic. Katrina can't stay away, despite the overflow of memories his presence brings to her. A catastrophic relationship is born, one the world never wanted and most definitely won't permit. Lies. Some are so tiny and insignificant, one may brush them off without so much as a second thought, never to be thought of again. Other lies are intricate, sinister. They're woven into such an elaborate and cunning web, that they wrap themselves tightly around someone and distort the truth in their very lives. Nothing is ever what it seems, but when the lies are so well hidden in such sweet words, how can one see that they're caught in the web? Aurienne Walker has always been an honest person. Riah Shiraki has always been honest as well. The two just can't seem to get along however, as Riah is not to be trusted. He's different from Aurienne and her classmates. His kind, though graceful, beautiful and full of eloquent speech, were not what they seemed. Aurienne had been raised to know better and see past their deceitful ways. She would never fall for their vile farce. But as time goes on, Aurienne will find herself stepping away from the morning sun and disappearing into the cool embrace of the night in the search of honesty. Under the watchful eyes of the moon and the stars, can Aurienne and Riah untangle themselves from a web of complicated lies that have been spun over the course of many years? Or will they both fall victim to the spider, who has awoken now that they have begun to struggle?
