Never in my life has my mom ever said something so horrible, so disgusting. Never in my sixteen years of living, have I heard something so awful and cruel. When Mom said those five words, I felt like my world was ending, and that my life was over. "You're going to high school." Now, I know what you're thinking. What's so bad about high school? Well, nothing if you're a normal, responsible human. But, that's just the thing. I'm not human. I'm a vampire. And, I've watched a hundred human movies to know that high school is horrible. My life has officially ended.

When Kayla was 10 her parents died. She's been in St. Peter's orphanage ever since. She finally got adopted at 16 and thats when her life started to get interesting.

Madisyn has tried to kill herself. She refuses any of the help offered to her. She can't look at herself in the mirror. She can't go to school without her blade. She can't even raise her hand in class without being terrorized by the rest of the class. If that's not bad enough, she has to come home to her drunken stepdad who hits her any chance he gets. She can't let anyone into that part of her life. She just can't trust anyone. So imagine her disdain when the new kid who actually saved her life enlists himself as her new bodyguard.

She works as a call reciever for the suicide hotline. One day she gets a call from a boy in need of immediate assistance. Breaking code, she leaves her station to go and look for him. He only hints as to where he is, leaving her to use the clues to find his location. Will she be able to find him in time? What if he turns out to be more important to her than she ever imagined? But, what if she only meets a body?

"When the stars retreat, and the moon bleeds blue.
