Dan's starting at new school. He never fit in at his old one, but when he meets a new friend, he finally starts to feel like he belings somewhere.

Dan finds Phil's journal, what happens when he reads it?

Phil doesn't have a best friend in his life. That is, until Dan turns up at his school. They become close and Phil finds out that Dan has a twin brother, but hates to talk about him. It's not until Phil comes over to Dan's house that he finds out why.

Dan Howell has terrible night terrors that don't seem to be subsiding, but when his parents send him off to college in hopes that things get better for him, things only sadly, get horribly worse. *This fic is so cringe worthy. It's a huge mess. It also contains suicidal actions, alcohol abuse, bipolar disorder, guns, death, drugs, emotional abuse, and just lots of triggers so if you're sensitive to things like this, please find a better fic to read that is suitable for you and or read at your own risk. This isn't an alternative universe, this takes place in present day. This is a story about how they could realize their feelings for each other and the conflict that could come with these feelings. There's denial, suspense, powerful feels, possible shouting at your screen, somewhat fluff, and some awkward yet heated smut later on.

My name is Daniel James Howell, call me Dan. I'm 23 years old and for most of my life, I lived alone, but I was never lonely. I lived a normal life, although I have a rather...odd talent. I can learn a whole person's life story in a glance. I'm not sure how or why but all I know is I've lived a thousand lives throughout my lifetime. When I look into a person's eyes, I see their whole life flash before my eyes. Of course I've used this to my advantage with job interviews to dates, but I've always hidden it away since I can remember. For some reason, I knew it wasn't normal, and-so, I've lived my whole life with this secret. You don't have to believe me, but this is My story. So if you choose to think I'm lying, so be it. Like I said, I have a normal life...well, had. That all changed exactly one year ago. I remember the day I meant him. Philip Michael Lester. He changed my life forever.

Dan is different. He's learned to accept that. Well, as best he can anyway, considering he's never really had much of a choice. It's been this way for as long as he can remember, the constant runaround process of trying to feel normal. His life is built around it, trying to trick both himself and everyone he interacts with into seeing him as your average person. The isolation as he desperately tries to keep others from finding out, the bitterness that wells up inside of him each and every time he's reminded that he'll never be like everyone else, the fear that nothing will ever change. He's fated to be this way forever; a misfit from society. Isolation can only go so far though, so when he's struggling to make ends meet and he's faced with the option of looking into a serious job or taking on a roommate, he opts for what seems like the easier option at the time. It doesn't seem so easy ten failed roommates into the process, or when he sits down at a table to meet with prospect number eleven and ends up with a coffee spilled all over his lap. Potential roommate number eleven, Phil, turns out to be an insufferable optimistic ball of sunshine that Dan wants nothing to do with. His options are running out though, as are the savings he's been using to pay his rent, so he finds himself begrudgingly agreeing to let the other man move in. Neither of them have any way of knowing just what they've gotten themselves into as they shake on the matter, but time will tell.
