Book 2 in the Burning Series: the sequel to Dust. The world is changing. There used to be men, and there used to be monsters. The line between the two is blurred now. Long ago, the earth spun in a constant cycle. There was life. There was hope. It is no longer such. Humanity cowers beneath glass domes in the midst of the desert, afraid of radiation that no longer pollutes the air. But there are darker things hiding in the wilderness now. Wild things. Cursed things. Burning things. Yet, not all is lost. Ashes, ashes. We all fall down sometimes. But what happens when you can't stand again?

All the earth is torn asunder. There used to be grass, and the sun used to be golden. Children played outside, climbing trees with smiles on their faces and grass stains on their knees. People worried about a million things that would soon be irrelevant, continuing without a clue of the disaster to come. Centuries later, what little is left of humanity survives in a society constructed beneath the surface of a glass dome, the world outside converted to little more than a desert wasteland. Survival is a routine rather than an effort, and all rules are surpassed by only one: if you want to survive, you never leave the dome. There's nothing alive out there. The radiation that soaks the earth makes sure of that. Until one day, someone finds a bloody, dust-covered handprint on the outside of the glass. Nothing will ever be the same again. "What was it like to witness the creation of the universe?" "Terrifying." When Atara, Merc, Cal and Lilith wake to darkness, they're each more than a little afraid. With no memory of who they were before, and with the universe bursting violently to life around them, they must work together to survive and to get home - wherever that may be. Because the longer they stay in this dark new world, the harder it is to do so. © 2015 by shayebay This novel is entirely a work of fiction. The world ended a long time ago. Some humans survived. But in order to do so, the original Survivors enhanced themselves with animal DNA, adopting traits that allowed them to live in this mutated wilderness of giant Beasts and vast, unexplored swathes of jungle-AKA, the Wold. But something that unnatural had to come at a cost. Meet Ash-one of the unlucky ones. She's almost human-71%, to be exact. With cat claws, ears, and a lot of anxiety, she's on the run to avoid death or slavery at the hands of human purists in the Capital. And, she just might have accidentally set out to save the rest of her kind along the way. When she encounters Stone on her quest, a brooding wolf-boy who relies on knives and sarcasm to fight his way through the Wold, she may get a lot more than she signed up for, as he decides to accompany her along on her quest. Through endless battles, hidden villages, and touching encounters with the travelers of the Wold, Ash and Stone may just change the world as they know it.

"My sweet pea... You're going to do great things," he whispers in my ear. All of a sudden, I feel a rush go through my body. I can hear Michael's heartbeat again and I can't stop staring at his neck. I can feel myself start to sweat as I can't resist the urge much longer. "That depends on your definition of 'great'," I say and quickly grab him by the throat. I push my fingers into his throat in order to cut off his airway and limit his breathing. "I'm going to kill you and everyone you've ever known. I will rip them, piece by piece, and make them plead for mercy," I threaten and make my grip on his throat tighter. The look of fear in his eyes fuels my confidence even more. I then look at the side of his neck. I can't resist the hunger anymore, and he knows it. "Jess, don't! Please! I thought we were allies!" He struggles to say. "You thought wrong," I say and sink my teeth into his neck. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A story told by a not so nice young lady named Jessica Rose. *Warning this book has mature content, read at your own risk* *Slowly Editing*

"Oh my God, Zara," he whispered, taking a good look at me. The insecurity managed to break through my amorousness. "I knew you were a beautiful woman, but damn, you're about to kill me with those curves." "I..." I wrapped my arms around chest, feebly trying to shield myself from his stare. Shame churned within my stomach. "I-Is that a bad thing?" "No, it's a very good thing." Gently, he pushes my arms away so I can't hide myself anymore. I sighed as his fingers drew little lines along the curves of my hips. "Almost makes we wish I was a race car driver so I could fully appreciate them."

Summer Jacobs knew full well about her town’s tradition. Every year at the end of the summer, a party would be held on school grounds without the knowledge of the parents or the teachers. It had been happening since before Summer was born and never once was anyone the wiser. This year however, everyone was going to find out. Summer had planned a weekend of alcohol, bad decisions and horrendous photo’s which she would later un-tag herself from on Facebook. A whole weekend with her friends at the biggest party of the year, without any worries or parents telling her what to do. So how she ended up trapped in the school with a deranged psycho killing her classmates off one by one, she will never know. It wouldn’t have been as bad if she was trapped on her own. She would have been happier to face the lunatic solo rather than be trapped with a guy who kept using the life or death situation to make passes at her. His theory was being so close to death should definitely loosen her up, and by ‘loosen up’ he definitely meant ‘get naked.’ Along with his friends who between them had the IQ of a baby tree stump, an outcast who probably still had Spiderman bed sheets and the cheerleaders who were more worried about all the blood staining their new white jeans, they had to somehow make it out of there alive. And to think, Summer’s biggest worry that weekend was waking up with a brutal hangover… ©makeandoffer
