A story a day for the month of May. A crazy challenge, to be sure. To produce something new every day? Is it possible? Is it wise? Well, regardless, here is my attempt. Perhaps it will be a few lines, perhaps a few pages. Perhaps they'll be characters I know, perhaps they'll be completely new. I am excited and terrified to share my Thirty-One Days in May!

[ROUGH DRAFT] In the land of gods and monsters, humanity ravaged Malcea with endless wars. Their insatiable hunger for treasure, pleasure, and power led them to forsake the gods who had once guided them. For thousands of years, the gods remained silent, watching with grief and fury as their creations spiraled into chaos. But when humans stood on the brink of war with the ancient dragons, the gods finally chose to intervene. Their return, however, was far from merciful-for the Gods of Malcea had darker, more sinister designs for their wayward children. Karos, a soldier of Asalph, is one such pawn in their game. Trained to hunt dragons, his beliefs are shaken when he forms an unexpected bond with Ake, a dragon desperate to return home. As Karos questions the gods' motives, he must decide whether to uphold the laws of his homeland or fight for a future shaped by his own choices-and the fragile, growing bond with Ake who challenges everything he thought he knew. _______________________ @Haylee for this gorgeous cover!

The first you should know is that this is a VERY short version of Divergent; and it's been called the "best parody on here" by several different users. Don't believe me? I shall prove it. ************************ In Trisha Pretor's dystopian Toronto, society is divided into two ranks, both dedicated to a particular virtue— the Clean, who value appearance and wealth, and are judged harshly; and the Unclean, who are more casual and have a lower expectation, and live in poverty. Once they've matured, and have black eyes, teens are required to enter a virtual reality to determine which rank they are better suited for. Trisha discovers that she is Detergent, having an equal aptitude for each rank, while most people can only endure one. The next day they choose which rank they will devote the rest of lives to. Trisha must decide whether she wants to stay dark, dreary world of the Unclean, (with her family, while denying her true self) or if she wants to embrace who she is at heart. Training is highly competitive, and causes stress for all of the Trainers. Trisha adopts a new name for herself,“Bee”. She tries to discover the truth of who her friends are, who she really is, and how she where a secret, forbidden romance with a sometimes amazing, sometimes infuriating boy fits into the life she's chosen for herself. She’s got a deep secret, and she’s heard that it may be her downfall. Bee discovers that tensions between parts of the city are increasing, and they threaten to unravel her society–not just one of the ranks. She finds that her closely guarded secret could either save her life, and that of those she cares about— or destroy her.

These are my thoughts on some philosophical issues that are pertinent to Science Fiction in particular and many other genres as well. This is not a rant. There are some really fine rant authors out there on Wattpad. The ones I like are: @mrcharizard15. His 'The Book of Random Stuff' and 'A Teenager's Rants' are especially interesting and very current. Another excellent writer in this genre is awesomesauce82. His 'Rants 'n stuff is worth checking out, as are many of his stories: Game Over, Smile for me, and 'Herobrine: Takeover' to name a few are really good reads of his.

***Ranked #4 in Non-fiction - "It's a thing of beautiful nonsense to be young." ***Featured original non-fiction for Pivot TV's Secret Lives of Americans. I Drew a Monkey in a Math Book and Now I'm Married is the true story of how I met my wife Jennie and our awkward teenage romance that followed. The book began as little more than a simple blog post about what it is like being married at the age of 18 and life 10 years later. As I began to catalog more and more of our story, I realized that what I had written was far more than just a blog post. It was a full chronicle of the the year leading up to when we were married and the precious memories that serve as the genesis of our family's story. In the end, it was a poor man's gift to his wife on the morning of their tenth anniversary, dedicated to her and shared with anyone wishing to experience a true teenage romance. I Drew a Monkey in a Math Book and Now I'm Married includes our personal coming of age story between two lovers on the in the twilight of childhood and adult life. You'll see our real life twists of fate, pitfalls and triumphs together, what we learned along the way, and the anecdotes of the misadventures of youth, including, but not limited to a touch of vandalism and the rewards that come with taking risks. I hope you enjoy the first few pages of our Book of Love. Some of it is transcendental. Some of it's just really dumb.
