Five parallel universes. One people. No home. In their universe, the Hiali are systematically hunted, a human people being scrubbed out of humanity. Oren, a Hiali man and his half-Hiali, half-Japanese wife Yasuko are on the run from those who would stop at nothing to annihilate all of Hialica, beginning with the Hiali capital city of Memnagoh and its people. With limited ability to travel between universes thanks a space-bending technique learned from Yasuko's father, a Japanese sensei from this universe, they leave their universe in a desperate bid to save themselves and ultimately, their people.
