"Calm down, just calm down." He thought to himself as he tried to even out his labored breathing, it it seems to just have made it worse. His breathing became shorter and harder causing him to clutch his chest as the bitter December air seemed to attack his throat. "Jairo." A soft voice rang out, though his head was still pounding. It caught his attention, "Jairo, you have to calm down, take deep breathes. I promise you're okay." He didn't feel okay though, it wasn't working. "I'm trying." He gasped clenching his eyes shut, he balled up his fist hitting his chest before falling to the ground. Suddenly he stopped, everything stopped. Jairo Agbayani or JAY is a 24 year old man living his everyday life in Chicago, Illinois. He's not satisfied but he's not complaining, however he feels that he should be doing more. Though he has no clue where to start, so he's settled for now. One fateful New Years Eve dared to change the course of his life for the better, and for the first time in his life he just might let it. Juniper Bartok, a 23 year old woman supposedly in her 'prime.' Though she doesn't really know how true that statement is. Because frankly? she doesn't really know where she's going. But as long as God guides, she's decided to follow faithfully. She's been following Christ full heartedly for a few years and it seems to be a new lesson everyday. Not that she's complaining, maybe just a smidge. However, what happens when these two just so happen to end up in the same situation on a bitter New Years Eve night? Disclaimer; This is a Christian, FAITH BASED story, I welcome all to read. But, if you know that is not what you like, please be respectful and move along, God Bless! 🤍

"I hear the familiar sound of footsteps approaching, and I don't need to look up to know it's my supervisor. He stops in the doorway, watching me shove the last file into the box on my desk. "Almost done with these boxes, huh?" His voice pitches up with an awkward cough to clear his guilty conscience. I look up to him with a blank gaze. It's all he deserves right now. He knows he messed up making me leave this late into the game. It's written all over his body language as he leans against the doorway, fiddling his gnarly fingers. He lets out a sigh, shifting his weight. " Listen, Kendrick... this isn't how I wanted things to play out." "Oh? Somehow I find that hard to believe." "Look, I didn't make the decision. It came down from higher ups. The cuts are everywhere, Kendrick. We had to trim the fat, and you got caught in the middle." He pauses, rubbing his forehead. "But there's a chance for you. They're transferring you to Philadelphia. They've got a case that's still open, one that needs someone who can handle the pressure. It's high-priority, Kendrick. It's a fresh start." "Philadelphia?" I scoff, pushing the last file into the box. 'I've heard about the department over there. Pretty messed up team.' "Yeah, I know the history. It's a mess. But this... this is different." He meets my eyes, his voice firm. "This case, Kendrick... it's high-profile. they've got a lot of suspicion on the guy already and they need someone who isn't afraid to get their hands dirty." I narrow my eyes. 'Who's the case about?' He hesitates for a moment, his gaze flickering before he speaks again so silent it may as well be a whisper... "Zephaniah Davis."

Katrina quickly accepts his offer, but doesn't believe she can be the wife he deserves. She has been brought up to believe a woman's place was in the home. A wife, by her definition, is someone who can cook, clean and bare children, things she has never been able to do, not that she has been given the chance. Rhye doesn't believe that, he feels a marriage is a partnership and he is so proud that God gave him Katrina as a partner, but can he convince her of that? Find out in "My Cowboy, My Hero".
