I'd Like to think I was a good person, before it all began. I didn't cheat on tests, or steal. But throughout my entire life, I was treated if I were a monster. At the age of five, after several agonizing tests, I was diagnosed with Reactive Attachment Disorder. But not even that title could describe just how strange I was. When another kid got hurt, I would cry. Whenever someone else was told a funny joke, I would laugh hysterically. People looked at me as if I were crazy- and for while I agreed with them. That was until I, Caddie Jones, was exiled to Nox Haven Academy, a school for truly special kids. Not the mentally ill, psychotic kind of special but the magical kind. Like witches, vampires, fairies and werewolves. Call me crazy if you want, you wouldn't be the first. But the stories are all true. The supernatural did exist and I was one of them. Life there was cool until suddenly, I was faced with two-faced witches, egotistical princes, hormone driven werewolves, and an army of evil warlocks who were threatening to destroy the world. ... Maybe Nox Haven was a school for psychos after all. ---------------------------------------------------------- Highest Rank: #2 in Paranormal 1st Place winner of The Night Shift's Killer Competition 4/10/16 Illustration by: Stephanie Pitino (www.ClairObscur.fr) (1st book in series)

❝ A venomous smile spread across his face. "Any day, any time, sweetheart. How about a friendly little bet?" ❞ Ever since know-it-all Serena Matthews started elementary school, she's known she was different from the other kids. She liked to read, looked forward to homework, and loved going to school each day. That wasn't enough to deserve to be bullied though, was it? Apparently it was. Just as long as Serena has known she was different Paul Archer, asshole extraordinaire, has known this too. Over the years, he has set out to humiliate her in every conceivable way possible. But he has his reasons...or maybe he just really, really hates Serena. But all that's just fine by Serena, who hates him back just as fervently. She has learned over the years to ignore Archer and his petty insults. And it seems to work for the both of them, until one day during their junior year when an argument over who's smarter arises. And suddenly they have a bet, a trivia contest with one dangerous price: the winner will become the loser's master, ordering them around in whatever way they desire, for the next five weeks. Let the games begin.

Where's the way the shades are walking? Where's the feet that crushed the cleavestones? Are you asking What's that thunder Rolling in the caves and caverns? I am urged, yes forced to tell you Of the rivers and the grottos Of the fierce-proud jackalopes They are in the deep of cosmos Under borderworld Xibalba They are skull-flames in the darkness Lighters of the smoke and builders Of the pylons and the great roads That leads from here into hereafter By the shores of river Lethe In the mountains, near the forest Betwixt the dream cave and the danger Of the deep-steep walls of fire In the house of shades and ladies Horns of fire, ears of heart-smoke Steps held windward, will-hearts flaring Teeth to cut the ancient demons The sound of thunder all beneath us Is the stomping of their laughter Rebounding from shaman to scrivener Of the fierce-proud jackalopes Hear me sing the song of legends And the hope of the departed
