A brutal war. A girl raised as a proud soldier, all too willing to fight and die for her country. A man whose life has been shattered, remade into one of fear and rage and hate. A boy who is caught in the web of politics, who experiences horrible things not meant for anyone, much less a child as young as he. This is a tale of two countries at war, and the lives of the people who reside there, featuring some supernatural powers, heavy religion, and some quite frankly terrible people. The story and its characters are my creation; any similarity to other works or to current events is not intended. Plagiarism is not acceptable... honestly, have a bit of self-respect. I don't particularly care if you vote for this work or not. My only desire is feedback so that I can become a better writer. AWARDS * FGU Awards November: Best Death Scene (1st Place). * Drill Sergeant Award (Best Dialogue). * Seraph Awards: Honorable Mention. * Snowflake Awards: 2nd Place, Fantasy. *Sequel to Paladin* The kingdom of Thule stands on the brink of civil war between two armies -- the Paladins and the Uriel -- each claiming the right to serve as Thule's protector. Once a Paladin trainee, Lady Samantha of Haywood -- Sam -- has been named a traitor to king and country by the Paladins' High Commander, with a bounty set on her head. Only Sam and her friends know what the people of Thule do not: the High Commander is no ordinary man but something more--something evil. The supposed military hero holds a dark alliance with the demons that have ravaged mankind for millennia, commanding them as easily as he does his men. Worse, he can control Braeden, Sam's half-demon lover, through blood magic long thought extinct. Sam and Braeden set sail across the sea in hopes of finding a way to nullify the High Commander's power. But the secrets they uncover reveal Thule faces an even greater threat. They must return to Thule and warn the Uriel...before it's too late.

Faeana Dagur inherits the Eye when her brother is slain in battle, and in her grief, she does what is forbidden: She sings death itself into the land. Trees die, grasses wither, the soldiers and their armored war cats are brought to their knees...and a monstrous black dragon that is on its way to kill her is broken from the sky. None of them even know that the enemy has stolen the creature and set its heart to killing. After a suspicious encounter from a messenger who brings a request that might lead to an ambush, Faeana is kidnapped by the murderous Marquis Morganthe. He claims he only wishes to negotiate a lasting peace between them, but he is troubled by something, and there is little trust to be found between them. He is wild in his display of emotion, and frightening, but his words ring of sincerity. After Marquis's proposal--which is so mad it might actually end the war between them for good--Faeana must make a choice. To reach a lasting peace, will she sacrifice the last remaining member of her family and condemn the only man she loves to a dreadful half-life? Or could she find it in herself to give up what she wants most in the world just to keep her remaining loved ones alive until the war claims the last of them? She has no idea Marquis owns the black dragon that mutilates her beloved, or that a coveted black dragon never travels alone. But, then again, Marquis is unaware of the power she has in her soul's song. She is the only one who might be able to tame the heart of the beast with the deadly storm of emotion that rages inside of her. She is, after all, the Heir of the Eye.

In the depths of the ocean, into the deep where the Dragon King has abandoned his ruling over, Evienne lives as a servant to the race known as the Blue Men. Though their harsh treatment toward sailors and ships that pass by does not suit her, their generosity in sparing her life is a constant reminder that she cannot speak out against their methods. The other reminder: she herself does not come from the ocean. Having once lived among the Earth Walkers, Evienne's memories of that life haunt her, and anything is better than where she'd come from. When she ventures beyond the confines of Blue Haven, however, she discovers that things are getting out of hand. She then realizes how desperately they need the Dragon King to step in again, and thus takes it upon herself to go to him herself. On a journey across the ocean, where she comes across races of Water Dwellers she's never even met and where she learns tales of war that threatens to break out among both Earth and Ocean, she soon finds her mission will drag her into her very own nightmares once more. Thanks to @MoreBooksMoreJoy for the cover. All your hard work to get me the cover I wanted is appreciated! Check out Dark Skies for some great covers.
