the air smells like the promise of tomorrow and nothing has ever smelled more terrifying

" my name's blurry face and I care what you think. " Dan Howell has an unknown condition where he cannot see faces - no matter what he wears or does - they are always a blur. The doctors nicknamed it 'blurry face', and there's absolutely nothing they can do about it; Dan will have to live without faces. That is, until he meets Phil Lester - the 'bad boy' of Dan's new school - who's face is strangely visible to Dan; much to Dan's wonder and Phil's distaste.

Phil doesn't talks. Well, not anymore. The last time he said something, was when he didn't hate himself. And that was a long time ago. But now, everything is different. He must struggle with depression, whilst new boy Dan Howell desperately attempts to win him over. [Warning: this could be triggering at some points]

Phil doesn't have a best friend in his life. That is, until Dan turns up at his school. They become close and Phil finds out that Dan has a twin brother, but hates to talk about him. It's not until Phil comes over to Dan's house that he finds out why.

I've always been told that "opposites attract", well I can't bull shit on the whole idea. And now I'm at this shit boarding school with this shit room mate, and I want to go home. "I looked at him for a while, trying to figure out who he was. He must have noticed because under his breath he mumbled, 'Phil Lester, 15, and really wanting to sleep'. I let out a sarcastic giggle, and replied, 'Dan Howell, 15, and I don't want to be here'. 'That makes two of us then I guess' he groaned." (Dan and Phil are room mates, and things are pretty shit, and angst and fluff and friendship, and yeah, lol enjoy.)
