Julie is dreadfully excited to be starting in the first form. Her mother went there many years ago, and she can't wait to see Malory Towers for herself. Olave would really rather not leave her governess and her darling baby brother, but her father insists. Elise is determined not to follow in her sister's footsteps. Jane is worried she might simply never find a special friend of her own. All of them are surprised when they meet a girl who does not attend Malory Towers down by the lovely rocky pool. However did she get there, and why does she insist on hanging about, when she doesn't belong?
