Disclaimer: Due to publishing restrictions, all but the first two chapters of my second novel have been removed from Wattpad. Thank you, to each and every reader, for supporting me and following along on Mason and Sophie's journey together. *** Story Synopsis *** Is accepting a troubled past safer than embracing an uncertain future? Sophie Holland, quiet and unassuming on the outside, is lost in the shadows of her fiancé, Travis Turner. It's the same place her troubled past hides. With her thoughts and ideas longing to escape the protective shell she's carefully built, will the quiet southern charm of Pigeon Grove and its residents provide the nudge Sophie needs to help her dreams take flight? To his family and friends, thirty-year-old Mason Shaw appears an open book. Unafraid to bare his emotions, few people know Mason has secretly buried the guilt of a decades-old decision, which still haunts him. Can Mason overcome childhood demons to find his place in the world, or will the return of Travis, his high school archrival, threaten to destroy everything he believes... about fate, the pursuit of dreams, and love? Trust, of self and others, hides in that fragile space between holding on and letting go...

University friends Luisa and Kay reunite in Nairobi after a year apart to do some feel good volunteering but their friendship and the trip begin to unravel the moment they meet a strikingly handsome British philanthropist and a Ghanaian entrepreneur. In short order the donor funding the project that has brought them together is revealed to be rich and cruel, her interest in coming to Kenya to "help" routed in deeply disturbing ideology. Meanwhile, Luisa must confront her reasons for maintaining her friendship with Kay, her status as heir to a nearly incalculable fortune, her feelings for a man who seems a little too good to be true and the tragedy she left behind back in California. ** A/N This story is a work of fiction, but it's based on things I saw and heard while working in international development for five years. It's my attempt to find the complicated middle ground between those who would idealize international development and those who would condemn it. It's also a place for me to deal with a difficult friendship I had with a friend who was suffering from mental illness. She's since passed away and I'm not sure I ever really got over it. The story isn't at all done so as I'm writing I'm figuring it out too. I've set the story Nairobi and in Kisumu, which is far west of Nairobi. I've picked the title partly because of what Nairobi represents. Nairobi is a throbbing, innovative metropolis situated in a continent that is still viewed very narrowly as a place in need of help.

When he was young, Thomas was a travel writer and photographer. But in his old age his children pressure him to move to retirement home. He resists until a fateful encounter with one of his fellow residents: a woman who doesn't seem to age and who definitely has a taste for blood.... *Part of why I wrote this story was to write a non traditional vampire story. The leads aren't young, one of the characters is Asian (vampires seem to be very white for the most part), and it's set predominantly in a retirement home. But that said, it's still supposed to be suspenseful and interesting. I hope!*
