Joel Wyatt is a lowly call center representative who works for the "big, evil empire". No, really... the maniacal CEO of Vaig Communications has battled against some of the greatest costumed crusaders the world has ever known. Not that that has anything to do with Joel; he's just trying to keep the peace with his girlfriend, Gwen, make time for bowling with his buddy, Spliff, and afford the ever-rising rent prices in Denver, Colorado. But strange things are afoot in the 303 area code, and suddenly, Joel is finding himself face to face with the sort of heroes, villains, and giant, radioactive monsters that he used to only read about on his news feed. If he's not careful, Joel might just move from being a spectator to an active participant in a series of events that could change the course of history itself... and maybe even his own life.

One dream. One promise. One choice. Promises are meant to be kept, right? Ever since Skylar Davidson was young, she aspired to be a singer, just like her mother. "Lose your dreams, lose your mind" is her motto that she follows religiously. Although this is so, obstacles have been a daily occurrence in her life. No matter what, this has never stopped her. Never will she give up her ambitions because of what life throws at her. Skylar fights to achieve her ambition, despite the consequences this may have. One fateful day may change just this. Will she jeopardize a relationship for a promise she makes that day, or will she sacrifice her dreams to keep exactly that? A/n: I am not continuing this book. When Vienna dreamed of her future as an artist, she didn’t imagine being the starving kind but life hasn’t quite turned out as she envisaged it. Stuck in a dead-end job and living with her sworn-enemy-turned-best-friend isn’t where she thought she’d be at 23: adulthood isn’t turning out quite as she planned. It doesn’t help that she has her mother breathing down her neck, forcing her to jump through life’s hoops. When a serendipitous meeting comes her way, she has a choice to make and a risk to take: she can play it safe and keep painting by numbers or she can begin a new canvas and risk losing everything to find the joy her life is sorely missing. The natural reaction is to do what any struggling artist would: Vienna quits her job, the only safety net she has, to pursue her dream.
