Coffee Shop AU Contest Entry It's the night before Midterms, and the campus café is crowded with studying students. Simmons wants tea. Fitz wants a friend. Shakespearean insults ensue.

FitzSimmons have found themselves trapped in an empty room at an abandoned SHIELD research facility. How did they get there? They broke the rules. Now they'll have to put their squabblings aside and get back to the Bus before anyone notices they're gone. But soon it becomes apparent that their real problems are only just beginning. Fitz and Simmons have unknowingly walked into a trap that will test them more than ever before as shield agents and as partners. Either they'll be leaving together or not at all.

I paused mid-sip, lowering my cup as I looked at him-silent, but completely focused. He had my full attention. "When you weren't there," he began, his voice barely above a whisper, "it felt like the pod all over again. You were my oxygen... but, I couldn't reach you. And it was killing me." His words hit hard, and I felt my eyes begin to sting. I always knew my feelings for Fitz were strong... but I hadn't realized how deep his were too. Author's Note: Hey everyone! I started writing this story a few weeks after the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 2 finale. I kept thinking, Where could Jemma have gone? That one question sparked the entire idea. Eventually, I was drawn to one of the most iconic cities in the Marvel universe as the setting. I later realized others had similar theories or storylines-but just to be clear, everything I write comes from my own ideas and imagination. I don't copy or take from anyone else.
