The Empire Molte has grown to its largest size ever seen; no-one wishes for this glorious time to end. In particular the Emperor, who has tasked his most trusted advisor, Nabar the First Shadower, to find a way to hold onto his power and become immortal through a rare element known as 'Strix', which flows among all living things in a balance of birth, growth, and death. Sixteen years ago a girl was born deep in the western forest who could sense and control this balance. Orphaned at a young age, Kthti is looked after by the Watchers, who heal all people.
