"Where is 'here?'"
"Here is where you will learn more of what you're capable of," he simply stated. "Now go on... get up."
I slowly raised myself to a sitting position, the air beneath me transitioning into a simple wooden chair. I had conjured the image in my mind into something solid because it was the most logical thing to sit on. I had an inkling of what was happening to me because this place was starting to feel familiar.
"I've... been here before, haven't I?" I asked, taking a good look at my surroundings.
We were in a forest clearing, one that I always imagine myself to be in when I'm meditating. Soft light was filtering through the leaves of the trees around us. 'Komorebi' as the Japanese would say to describe it.
The man laughed mirthfully, like someone who knew that I was steps ahead before he could even begin to explain what was really happening to me.
"You're a sharp one, aren't you? I'm Luc," he said, extending his hand.
I shook it, welcoming the touch of another human being.
"Lucian," I nodded. "Indig- Aiofe's friend. Where in the world are you right now?"
"Back home. Sorry to be cryptic. I'm kind of -"
"A recluse. I understand. Aiofe mentioned that in her letter. She said that you're more reclusive than I am."
He smiled. I smiled. We just looked at each other and I got it: Luc was to be my Mentor and he was going to give me a good challenge.
