Deserette Falcon's life seems to be normal enough with her little brother and 2 parents. But one day while looking through her parents' room, she finds a picture that reveals a deep, dark secret that her parents have been keeping from her. And Deserette is going to find out what the picture means if it is the last thing she does. Literally.

Carmen Ross & her best friend, Tracii Davids, are new freshman at Micheal Shone High School. They both have ONE main goal: To get OUT of high school. Which looks pretty easy on T.V., but these girls are going to need some serious help. And, what better can help them other than the famous "illegal" SLAM Book. No one knows who wrote it, but it goes back and forth with almost everybody at school. And when Carmen & Tracii get their hands on it, it changes their freshman year in more ways than they thought it would.
