Dit verhaal wordt vertelt vanuit de jongedame Aeryss, die in het Jagersgilde zit in het land Sevillian. In Sevillian zijn de krijgers opgedeeld in 6 gilden. De zes gilden zijn opgedeeld in twee groepen: De Orde van Gilden, die bestaat uit het Vechtersgilde, het Jagersgilde, het Magiërsgilde en het Helersgilde, en de Samenzwering van het Kwaad, bestaat uit het Dodengilde en het Dievengilde. Een tijdje terug waren alle gilden nog vriendelijk tegen elkaar, maar het Dodengilde was het niet eens met de manieren van de andere gildes en rebelleerde. Ze werden snel verslagen door de andere gildes en trokken zich terug in een uithoek van de wereld: de vulkaan van Mithi. Het Dievengilde ging met hen mee en daar trainen ze nu jonge mensen om duystere magie te gebruiken. Spoedig zal hun leger klaar zijn, en dan zullen ze de hele wereld domineren. Wie gaat deze oorlog winnen?
